01Who we are

This website is run by MPI Living (“MPI Living”, “we”, “us”), a property maintenance, renovation and repairs business in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

BusinessMPI Living

We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

02Information we collect

We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and carry out work for you.

Information you give us

  • Quote requests: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, property type, the service you need, how urgent it is, rough budget, preferred contact method and anything you write in the message box.
  • Calls, WhatsApp, email and Facebook messages: your contact details, the content of your messages and any photos or videos you send of the job.
  • Customers: the property address, access arrangements, job details, quotes, invoices and payment records.

Information collected automatically

  • Spam protection: when you send the quote form, our website briefly uses your IP address to stop automated spam. It is kept for no more than one hour.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security.
  • Postcode checker: if you use the “Do we cover your area?” tool, the postcode you type is sent to postcodes.io to find its location. We don’t store it.

03How we use your information

  • To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote.
  • To arrange visits, carry out the work and keep you updated.
  • To send invoices, take payment and keep business and tax records.
  • To deal with any questions, warranty issues or complaints about our work.
  • To keep our website secure and free from spam.

We do not sell your information, and we will not send you marketing messages unless you have asked us to.

05Who we share it with

We only share your information when we need to, and only with:

  • Our own team and trusted tradespeople working on your job, who only get the details they need.
  • Service providers that help us run the business: website hosting, email, accounting software and messaging apps (such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger if you contact us that way).
  • Professional advisers such as our accountant or insurer, where necessary.
  • Authorities such as HMRC, or where the law requires it.

Some providers, such as Meta (WhatsApp/Facebook) and Google, may process data outside the UK. When this happens, it is protected by approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK adequacy regulations.

06Photos of our work

We like to show before and after photos of finished jobs on our website and social media. We never show your name, house number or anything else that identifies you or your property. If you would rather we didn’t use photos of your job, just tell us and we will remove them.

07How long we keep it

Quote requests that don’t go aheadUp to 2 years
Customer job records, quotes and invoices6 years after the job (HMRC requirement)
Spam-protection IP dataUp to 1 hour
Messages and photos you send usAs long as needed for the job, then deleted with the job record

08Cookies and local storage

Our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It uses:

  • Temporary browser storage (session and local storage) to make pages load faster and to remember postcode lookups. Nothing in it identifies you, and it stays on your device.
  • WordPress cookies, which are only set if you log in to the website (staff only).
  • Third-party content: fonts from Google Fonts and map images from OpenStreetMap and CARTO. When these load, your browser connects to their servers, which can see your IP address.

You can clear or block storage at any time in your browser settings. The website will still work.

09Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

AccessGet a copy of the information we hold about you.
CorrectionAsk us to correct anything that is wrong.
ErasureAsk us to delete your information, where we don’t need to keep it by law.

10Keeping it safe

Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Access to enquiries is limited to staff with a password-protected login, and we keep regular encrypted backups. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

11Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
